Jamshedpur, December 15, 2023: Tata Steel marked National Energy Conservation Day on December 14 with a series of initiatives aimed at raising awareness and promoting energy efficiency.
The occasion underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainable practices and its pursuit of global benchmarks in energy conservation. Rajiv Mangal, Vice President Safety Health & Sustainability, Tata Steel graced the occasion.
He addressed the gathering and emphasised on the sustainability challenges in steel plants, highlighting the crucial role of energy efficiency and renewable energy in mitigating these challenges.
An online idea generation campaign called SANRAKSHAN was launched, which saw enthusiastic participation from Tata Steel employees. Over 100 ideas were submitted, top four implementable ideas were recognised and awarded.
The event featured presentations on emerging technologies in energy conservation by technology providers, shedding light on potential areas of implementation and the benefits of these technologies. Furthermore, informative insights were shared by various departments including Shikhar 25, Corporate Sustainability and Shared Services, emphasising the importance of energy efficiency. As part of its dedication to promoting energy efficiency, Tata Steel unveiled an Energy Book named “URJA,” which captured a comprehensive overview of the Global, Indian and Tata Steel energy scenario. The book outlines the journey towards carbon neutrality and offers practical tips on energy saving for day-to-day life.
