कोलकाता, 25 मई 2025: एशिया का सबसे पुराना फुटबॉल टूर्नामेंट, इंडियनऑयल डुरंड कप, अपने 134वें संस्करण के साथ लौट रहा है। इस साल पहली बार टूर्नामेंट पाँच राज्यों में आयोजित किया जाएगा और मणिपुर की राजधानी इम्फाल दो साल के अंतराल के बाद इसकी मेज़बानी करते हुए वापसी कर रही है। डुरंड कप आयोजन समिति ने इस साल के टूर्नामेंट की तारीखें 22 जुलाई से 23 अगस्त 2025 के बीच तय की हैं।
असम का कोकराझार तीसरे साल लगातार मेज़बान रहेगा, जबकि झारखंड का जमशेदपुर और मेघालय के शिलांग को पिछले साल मेज़बान स्थलों में जोड़ा गया था। पश्चिम बंगाल की राजधानी कोलकाता, जिसे भारतीय फुटबॉल का मक्का कहा जाता है, 2019 से डुरंड कप का मुख्य आधार बना हुआ है और इस साल लगातार छठी बार मुख्य मेज़बान रहेगा।
पूर्वी भारत में स्थानांतरण के बाद से, डुरंड कप ने खुद को देश की प्रमुख फुटबॉल प्रतियोगिता के रूप में फिर से स्थापित किया है। टीमों की संख्या 16 से बढ़कर 24 हो गई है और सभी इंडियन सुपर लीग (आईएसएल) टीमें अब इसमें हिस्सा लेती हैं।

भारतीय सेना की पूर्वी कमान द्वारा तीनों सेनाओं की ओर से आयोजित किया जाने वाला यह टूर्नामेंट विशेष है, क्योंकि इसमें सेनाओं की टीमें देश के सर्वश्रेष्ठ फुटबॉल क्लबों के खिलाफ खेलती हैं। पिछले कुछ वर्षों में इसमें विदेशी सेनाओं की टीमें भी भाग लेने लगी हैं।
भारतीय सेना का लक्ष्य इस ऐतिहासिक टूर्नामेंट को पूर्वोत्तर भारत तक पहुँचाना है, और इस वर्ष के मेज़बान शहर उसी दिशा में उठाया गया ठोस कदम हैं।
सभी राज्य सरकारों और स्थानीय स्वायत्त निकायों ने हमेशा की तरह इस लोकप्रिय टूर्नामेंट को पूर्ण समर्थन देने का वादा किया है, जो इस क्षेत्र के फुटबॉल प्रेमियों की कल्पना का केंद्र बना हुआ है।

134वें इंडियनऑयल डुरंड कप के लिए छह स्थान तय किए गए हैं:
- कोलकाता में दो (विवेकानंद युवा भारती क्रीड़ांगन और किशोर भारती क्रीड़ांगन)
- इम्फाल (खुमन लम्पक स्टेडियम)
- रांची या जमशेदपुर (मोरहाबादी स्टेडियम या जेआरडी टाटा स्पोर्ट्स कॉम्प्लेक्स)
- शिलांग (जवाहरलाल नेहरू स्टेडियम)
- कोकराझार(साई स्टेडियम)
नॉर्थईस्ट यूनाइटेड एफसी वर्तमान में गत विजेता हैं, जिन्होंने पिछले साल रोमांचक फाइनल में मोहन बागान को हराकर अपना पहला खिताब जीता था।
Asia’s oldest football tournament, the IndianOil Durand Cup, is returning with its 134th edition. This year, for the first time, the tournament will be held in five states and Manipur’s capital Imphal is returning to host it after a gap of two years. The Durand Cup organising committee has finalised the dates for this year’s tournament as July 22 to August 23, 2025.
ABOUT DURAND CUP
A symbol of India’s football history and culture, the Durand Cup is Asia’s oldest and the world’s third oldest football tournament. Organised by the Indian Army on behalf of the three Services, the Durand Cup has been the breeding ground for India’s best footballing talent, over the years.
The inaugural edition happened in Shimla in 1888 and then the tournament moved to New Delhi in 1940, where it was held till 2016.
In 2019, the tournament came under the aegis of the Eastern Command and moved to the eastern part of the country, with Kolkata, the Mecca of Indian football and the Eastern Command Headquarters, being the home base.
What makes the Durand Cup even more unique is that the winners get three trophies, two rotating (Durand Cup and Shimla Trophy) and one for permanent retention (President’s Cup).
